Visitor Information

The Garden is now closed for the winter and will re-open on April 1st.

The Garden will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 10am to 5pm, excluding Bank Holidays; until the end of October 2022.

Last admission is 4.15pm – gates (including the car park) lock no later than 5pm.

Admission is £8 per person (under 16’s free).

We do not have an advanced booking system.

Payment by card preferred.

We are part of the Gardeners’ World 2 for 1 (these cannot be used for special event days e.g. NGS or by Group bookings)

If you visit Batsford Arboretum during our 2022 season do hold onto your receipt as this will allow 2 people to enter Bourton House Garden for the price of 1 (these cannot be used for special event days e.g. NGS or by Group bookings).

Covid Update

Following the Government announcement to relax guidelines from the 19th July, we will be continuing with some measures here at Bourton House Garden.

  • Hand sanitisers are in place at reception, at the café and outside the toilets
  • Rigorous cleaning will remain in place
  • Facemasks are encouraged in the café
  • Maximum of 6 people ordering in the café at any time
  • A one-way system is in place to help you socially distance

We politely ask that you follow these measures to ensure the safety of our staff and our visitors, particularly those who are vulnerable or nervous at this time.

And please remember, if you feel unwell, please do not come into the garden and instead follow NHS guidance.


The Cafe is open from May until the end of September (10.30am-4pm) selling hot and cold drinks, light lunches and delicious cakes.

Tables and chairs will be provided in the Orchard and in the Tithe Barn.

Please do not take food or drink into the Garden.

Friends of Bourton House Garden

Join The Friends of Bourton House Garden for £24 per person and enjoy unlimited visits during the 2022 season.  This also makes a great present for a garden lover.   Contact for further information on how to join or sign up/make payment on your first visit to the Garden at the Admissions desk.

Group Visits

We are taking bookings for the 2022 season whilst complying with current Government guidelines.  If you would like to make a provisional booking for the 2022 season please e-mail  We do not take a deposit and are happy to stay in touch and be flexible.

A Group is classed as 10 or more paying visitors.

Group concessions for pre-booked groups only: £7 per person (tour leader/coach driver free)


Disabled Access

Bourton House Garden has limited disabled access (60% – 70%).
Disabled toilet available

We do not have wheelchairs/scooters available to use/hire but please do bring your own.

A review received on 6th September 2019 said “I recently visited your gardens – I am in a wheelchair and did not expect to see a lot but I managed to go around the whole garden and what a fabulous place.  I loved it and will definitely be back.  Thank you so much for a lovely outing.”

Tree Walk

Visitors to the garden are also invited to enjoy the walk in our seven acre field (opened to the public in 2013) which visits groups of specimen trees planted in 1994/95. A free guide to the trees is available with tickets to the garden.  Please do follow the mown paths when walking around the field.  Visitors walking the Tree Walk do so at their own risk.

Car Park

Parking is available in the field opposite the Garden entrance – this is free of charge.  Please note that visitors park at their own risk.

The Garden closes at 5pm – Gates (including the car park) lock no later than 5pm so please ensure you have departed in time.

Public Transport

Bourton House Garden is 2 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh on the A44. Bourton House Garden can be reached by public transport on the Johnsons Coaches route 1 and 2 (no bus on Sunday).  Timetables can be found on . Sorry, no dogs or picnics or use of drones in the Garden.

We do not hire out the Barn or Garden for events such as weddings.
